22-24    Laguna Seca Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix

Please forward any questions to Corey Taguchi or Paul Ventura regarding this ride.

Here are the details:

Hi everyone,

We're putting together a SPIRITED rides to and from Laguna Seca that will take us on some of the very best winding roads this great state has to offer. It will include some breathtaking scenery, with a good helping of every type of twisty road you can imagine - 1st gear hairpins, fast smooth sweepers, shaded forest rollers, wide-open lonely desert highways, etc.

The exact route is still being finalized but the link at the bottom of this e-mail will give you a good idea of what we're thinking (to those who like the coast, we'll do some of that on the way back down, but PCH is usually just too crowded to be fun on the way up).

Please note that this will be a very long ride, ~430 miles and 10-11 hours on a motorcycle is challenging! If you are a new rider, rusty, or just want to relax and cruise, you probably won't enjoy it. That said, while the pace will be quick it won't be crazy. Nobody will be dragging elbows or knees, we have no illusions that we'll be riding up to compete in Sunday's race. We've done very similar routes in past years, all without incident, and everyone had lots of fun. So if you're fairly comfortable on your bike and are up for the challenge, we'd love to have you!

One thing that we still need to decide is which day to leave - some are interested in leaving Thursday, some Friday, and possibly even some Saturday. Whichever day we leave, we're planning on getting up there in a single day so no need for a hotel on the road. If you're interested in the ride, please let us know which day you'd like to leave.

Finally, for those who don't yet have accommodations in Monterey, Corey has reserved a block of 5 hotel rooms at the Laurel Inn Motel which will be offered at a discounted Honda rate of $92, so get in touch with him if you're interested.

What is needed:

Confirmation that you are going up and would like to ride as a group. Please contact both Corey and Paul with a suggested date for leaving. Monday is the return day for all who attends.

Here are the dates:

Possible dates are ride to Laguna Seca: ask for contact and preference for dates to go up.

To Laguna Seca: Thursday July 21, Friday July 22, or Saturday July 23 depending on preference of the group...

To Los Angeles: Monday July 25 is a definite return and ride back...

Here are the reimbursements:

The club will pay for 2 meals and 2 tanks of fuel for each member see guidelines below. You choose the meal,
(1 dinner, 1 lunch, or 1 breakfast, but not 2 dinners). You will be responsible for any expenses over the limits listed (tax and tip included in the amounts).

After rest stop in Trona, continue on Trona Wildrose into Death Valley. We'll stop at the fork of Wildrose and Panamint Valley where we'll decide which route to take from there (Wildrose or Panamint Valley).
In either case, we'll hook up with Hwy 190 and head to Stovepipe Wells. Stop in Stovepipe Wells for gas
